When using sieve filters in Kmail, in jaunty kio_sieve eats up the CPU, and has
to be killed manually.

That's a kde4 change that caused kdesu to go under /usr/lib/kde4/libexec and

The problem has already been reported to them, and they are aware of people
complaining about this...

The is due to kdesudo now loading the root profile instead of the user's one.
The old way to work was more efficient in your case, but cause lots of other
issues, since config files in the user's profile where set to root UID/GID.
There is no known solution yet... gksu does the same way than kdes

As Hobbsee asked me, of course both application and package will be activatelly
maintained in the future with good QA.
The reason the package comes that late during the dev cycle is simply that we
took a very long time testing every part of the software to ensure everything
would work as expecte

That will hardly be fixed in gutsy, since this is more a kde bug than a kdesudo
one.
The issue is that for some reason, kcontrol/kcm modules are broken on new
accounts on some computers.
That's the famous "kcontrol is empty bug".
There is not much we can do with kdesudo yet, since the user->root
