i hit the same bug (in 11.10) - the problem is that writer2latax does not check
for the openoffice presence. trying to install if no openoffice, but
libreoffice is installed should produce a descriptive error message and not

i have a fresh install of 10.10 - with all updates, but i see exactly
the same behaviour. other partitions with ubuntu (say 10.04) are
correctly found, but the UUID for the root is set to the one grub-update
is run for (or the one, the installation is made for). this makes it
impossible to run with
i just installed 10.10 - and it seems unusable. intermittently beam.smp comes
up and the system is completely unresponsiv. cpu load is not visibly high, but
interaction is essentially stopped.

i did switch the /home partition (i.e. changed fstab). i had copied the
.dot files to the new home partition, but there might be some remnants
from 9.10.
i also saw when i was starting that it said 'resume : libgcrypto version 1.4.4'
and then was a long wait.

some defaults are necessary and i do not see a point in discussing what
defaults should be), but the user should have the options to set his level of
security as he sees fit.

it uses HAL and must be changed (i am sure that other input devices
needed to be changed from HAL to the new system). where is a descriptiv

i run lucid and encounter behavior that seems similar as described above. the
error message is consistently 'no valid VPN secrets' (the passwords are saved
in the setup. they are correct and work with a 9.04 ubuntu) -- i seem to
remember a similar bug earlier in 9.10.
this is a regression bug!
i marked this as 'not a regression' bug, but when i checked, i found that it
did not occur in kernel 2.6.31-21 which i was using with 9.10. it is a
regression error. suspend did work correctly before. i hope this helps!

could somebody provide something similar to the quirk-checker script for the
new setup (for lucid) without HAL? it was useful...
i, for one, have a problem with suspend and hibernate and would like to fix

i am not certain, but i appears that the problem occurs when i close the
lid and the cpu goes seemingly to sleep and later i take the computer
out of the backpack and it is on. but in a state that is frozen (nothing
on visible desktop moves, no pointer, no reactions to input)

i just installed the new distribution - the behaviour has not changed
substantially:
1. calibration is lost with every restart
2. calibration is after restart mapping any touch to the lower left corner
(opening trash)
- after recalibratin it is off (calibration shows 400/400 as min values

i installed a new printer (Kyocera FS-1030) and did not see an
oppoertunity to set the paper size. the printer driver uses letter
(because my language is set to us-english) but i am located in austria
and use a4. (it is dangerous to derive too much f
just got the updates (fri oct 9) and now the issue seems resolved! the
figures the calibration program reports are seemingly ok and the cursor
is calibrated after restart!

afer some experimentation i found that touchscreen calibration sets the
value minY wrongly - it uses a value similar to minX, but it should be
different (in my case minX is 449 and minY is 1384.
i checked the code of the calibrate_touchscreen, but i cannot understand
the logic. where is some docum
