The 'printer settings' window of L.O. cannot change the settings of
system-config-printers, so everytime it is launched takes the value from
system-config-printers, but in contrast to what it show, it cannot modify these
settings.

whole PPA), so the only crashing intel-video driver is from Nick's PPA.
I thought only some removal of obsolete code was reverted on that one,

If I bulid & install totem-3.4.3 & use in 13.04 with gst-0.10 the same
thing happens if gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio is installed, constantly
becomes unresponsive

It will work fine if I:
1 - extract /usr/share/usb_modeswitch/configPack.tar.gz from
usb-modeswitch-data to /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/
2 - run the command:
sudo usb_modeswitch -v 19d2 -p 2

It might also be worth trying something before 3.5.0-20, it had a bunch of
graphics updates, but caused problems for some people, that needed another
graphics fix in -21 - so it looks like that's also causing you problems.
I'd also ask you try the latest upstream kernel by following
