Brett, I would recommend contacting the maintainer of the package in Debian, Giacomo Catenazzi <c...@debian.org>, and requesting a removal there, which would cause the package to be removed from Ubuntu as well, if you think that upgrading the package to the latest version wouldn't be a better solution.
