I was able to successfully get a different sis driver to that eliminated
the problems mentioned in this bug report using the workaround mentioned
in #5 above ( the location of the source for this sis driver is

I fixed this by making my hostname resolvable. I think connman was to
blame. Another machine that had this same issue spontaneously fixed
itself when I switched to nm.

This isn't a problem with the stroke width.
For me, there is a major discrepancy between the Rectangle and Selection
tool measurements
For example, I created a rectangle, and the size was supposed to be
108mm x 40mm with an 0.01mm stroke width.

i think there's no need for this, as long as the browser (or system)
looks for the needed plugin (usually flash) and installs it when granma
wants to watch her grand kids's video on youtube or one of those social
networks.

Apparently, this bug happens to occur as a regression in the current
version of Unity in Ubuntu 11.04 as well, because I am experiencing it.
Only in this case, it occurs when I try to resize the Dash.
