I would like to jump on this band wagon too. I prefer Pidgin for this and other reasons. Such as all the various plugins, customizable sounds, and the abilitiy to save custom Smiley Icons, Including animated ones. WHICH I LOVE.
So I will confirm this and will also seach for the Smiley Icon bug here on launchpad. If I can't find it I'll report a new one.
