Well, I stand corrected.
A freshly deployed EL9 box with full patches started doing the same
thing this morning.
Enabling debug on the box shows the same issue as Ubuntu with 'cannot
resolve hostname "LOCAL"'.
I guess the patches in the pam GitHub repo do NOT resolve this issue.

I normally use Ethernet and my Wifi stopped working today after a
