Simple solution: Install SquirrelMail on your web server, not the mail
server.

(4 times now), SqWebMail performs
where SquirrelMail chokes. Outlook also behaved fine. Same message,
same IMAP server, no problem. Once I delete the offending message,
SquirrelMail goes back to normal.

Did you reset your SM configuration back to defaults since upgrading the
IMAP? IIRC, you had played with that to some extent, it's possible that
your config is now the culprit.

Jon,
Found it:
chmod 755 login_auto
chmod 644 login_auto/*
Now, in order to keep me from screaming and yelling and throwing a
tantrum in general, you need to get the preferences problem fixed
(without changing default values in php.ini).
Thanks and good luck,

/mail/squirrelmail
4) create an alias in apache so that /squirrelmail/
points to /usr/local/squirrelmail/
5) configure SM for your mail server
I guarantee that you'll see the prefs problem on your first run.

For some reason, I can't seem to get this to work. AFAIK, I've
installed it correctly. Is there a "debug" mode that I can use to
figure out what's going on?
TIA,

Interesting. I just tried turning register_globals on, and the behavior
got even more loopy.
FWIW, with SM-1.2.11 on PHP 4.0.5, everything works perfectly with
register_globals on or off.

Brett,
Are you trying to send mail immediately after making the changes to the
prefs? Have you tried sending mail after logging out and back into SM?
If not, give that a try.
Also, what version of PHP are you running?

Rob,
You don't say which version of SM you're running, but I suspect an
upgrade there is also in order. 1.2.11 is the latest stable code.
