Pierre, Try upgrading Courier-IMAP.
I noticed that SM 1.4 had a serious issue working against Courier-IMAP 1.0 (it didn't work at all, while SM 1.2.11 worked fine), it may also be having problems with Courier 1.4.3. I'm guessing that it's a simple case of GIGO, either Courier or SM started/stopped sending/receiving garbage to/from the other.
