Hi,
I have the DNS servers IP correctly configured, and so I can discover the IP address of a site such as www.yahoo.com using nslookup, and can ping it. but somehow I can't open that sire with a browser. Does anyone have any idea about what could be wrong?
Thanks a lot,
Andre
Do you Yahoo!
Try telnet site.name 80
and see if it connects.
If not, and you can ping it, it sounds like a firewall blocking port 80
somewhere between you and the site.

hi,
In order to change any network settings you can use Network Configuration
which is under "System". If you cannot find it under "System", you may
want to try typing "redhat-config-network" at the terminal. This will open
up the Network Configuration Dialog Box.

Hello
I am running Linux 7.2.
Prior to configuring my local area network, I was able to access the WWW
using Netscape. My dialup connection appears to be correct and nothing has
been changed in that area.
I configured my local area network using neat, giving my local machine an
address of 198.

Hello all!
I am finally going to be getting broadband service to my house. I have a
Linksys router that will be my firewall/router/DHCP server, an enigma server
on the network along with a Mac.
I see the latest GUI tool from RedHat is NeAT. It seems quite easy to use.
However, I've got a quest

Hello People.
I have problems with network configuration.
Can anyone help me as to how do we set the differnt
values like IP addr and default DNS and default
gateway. There are other entries in ROUTING tab as
default gateway device and netmask and so on. What do
i do with those values??

A friend of mine just gave me a non-functional Compaq Pagemarq 20, and a
non-functional Pagemarq 15. This morning I managed to turn the two into
a functional Pagemarq 15. Yippee! The printer includes an ethernet
card, and I can set the printer's interface to ethernet - but there does

I don't know of a good, general way to query a kernel for its range of

Greetings,
Being new to Linux I was wondering if anyone could assist me with a couple
of questions:
1. I was wondering what the command would be to verify what was
compiled in the kernel, namely, I am trying to determine what I need to have
compiled to use IPSec for VPNs.
2. I am wonde

To All,
I am looking for advice and links to more info on the following:
My sons school has about fifty pc we need to network.
We have a DSL line. We need to have web access and file services. E-mail is
also a possibility.
I think we need two linux boxes.
Box 1 will be firewall/proxy server.
