My kernel version on RH 9.0 is 2.4.20-8
Is it possible to mount FAT32 and NTFS instead of making any changes to
kernel or updating?

How exactly did you use tar to do this? Did you just tar the files up

Hi all,
I did backup some of the major programs using tar to floppy
disk. Now, my origional server is formatted, and have it re-installed.
But, with the new redhat 6.2, I won't be able to mount the floppy disk.
So that I am not able to recovery my programs. I have tried to use

Hi,
Do you use a dos or unix filesystem? I haven't had

Perhaps, try:
mount -t vfat /dev/hdd4 /mnt/floppy
"umsdos" isn't what you want, and "msdos" doesn't give you long
filenames. Zip disks usually have a partition table on them, as well.

Hi
don't you want either
mount -t msdos /dev/hdd /mnt/floppy.
or
mount -t vfat /dev/hdd /mnt/floppy.

If you type man fstab, it will explain the options. On this is that you
must create the /cdrom directory, before you mount the drive. Some people
create a mnt directory, and put /cdrom /floppy etc. in th

What kinda of CDROM? is it SCSI? IDE? you'll need to mount the /dev
depending on the answer to that question.
Example a SCSI CD-ROM might be mounted in this way...
# mount -t iso9660 /dev/scd0 /mnt (where t is the type)
for lots more info do a 'man mount'
