Were you able to read it after the backup?

Can you read it on another machine?  What was the command you used to tar
it?  I am wondering if you can tar something to /dev/fd0 rather than
/mnt/floppy and if so what you would do to get it back.  Perhaps something
like dd if=/dev/fd0 of=/tmp/prayer would get the data to the hard drive
but
 I really don't know.
