I believe that NTFS write
support is considered dangerous due to the potential for data corruption.
I imagine this is particularly true if you use file encryption is WinXP.
If I am off base here, hopefully someone will correct me ;)

A few days ago I posted some questions regarding the problem I had. It

I had the same problem with my BIOS based boot sector virus protection
thingie. Turn it off in the BIOS. All a virus really is (to many
scanners) is a change in data. Like BIOS
You would want to disable boot sector virus checking because I had the
same problem it hampers my installation of Win98 and would hamper my
installation of any Linux. Anytime you install OS's they almost always
modify the boot sector.
