the first time you ran lilo to overwrite the original MBR,
a copy of it should have been made in /boot/boot.xxyy,
where xx,yy represent the major and minor device numbers
of the hard drive in question.

use "dd" to write it back.  and there's always lilo, check
the man page for the options -s, -S, -u.
