I seem to be the king of finding odd problems.
I finally got the CDs straightened out last night, and got 8.1 (beta 2)

Title: Sound Problem in Redhat 7.2
I have a IBM 300zx laptop that I just installed Redhat 7.2 it has an old crystal 423x sound card. The problem I am having is that when I boot up and go into KDE my sound does not work until I open a console and run sndconfig. When I do this half the time
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-0-0
so I put this line in /etc/modules.conf:
alias sound-service-0-0 cs4232
This got rid of the error message in the log, but it didn't fix my sound problem.
I can get sound to work properly by doing:
rmmod cs4232
insmod cs4
Does anyone else have an IBM ThinkPad 1472 (I think that's the model...I
haven't found anything that explicitly identifies it
as such) running Redhat (or any other linux)? Mine is a Celeron

all is well except for sound. Sndconfig iden

I am trying to compile the sound support into my 2.0.30

The rest of 'make' went well. However, when I try to
"insmod sound" after a reboot with the new kernel,
I get:
