I have a system with Crystal sound (CS4232) and I
configured it with sndconfig. When I startup X
the sound will work for a little while and then
quit when I am useing Gnome. I get a kernel message:

kernel: Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRO config error?

These are the entries in my conf.modules file:

alias sound cs4232
pre-install sound /sbin/insmod sound dmabuf=1
alias midi opl3
options opl3 io=0x388
options cs4232 io=0x534 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=9

I have no device or interrupt conflicts. It is a pretty
simple system. If I boot under winblows, it shows the
same resources as I used above.

I have tried several io and dma settings. Some work and some don't,
but the ones that work still only work for a short time. I have not
been able to get any repeatable sequence to cause it to die. I can
hear a 'pop' in the speakers after it stops working leading me to
believe a null buffer is being sent out. There is also a delay until
the i/o is complete. And once it stops working, it never works again
until I reboot the machine. I still have no clue of how to fix it.

Does anybody have any suggestions, or is this a gnome error?
