I am sure that this is self inflicted. I did an upgrade to RH 8.0 from 7.3. That worked fine. I had many problems with RPM, and seemed to have them resolved them with the help of this list. Now, for some reason my RPM database is gone. When I do rpm -qa all I see is the rpm packages. rpm --rebuil

Hi. Runnig 6.2 on my firewall, no X, went to apply patches, etc, and wanted to start using up2date...and realized that when my second hard drive crashed, months ago, taking *all* of /var with it, that the rpm database is gone. So, short of re-installing RH, is there any way to recreate it?
