Has anyone successfully mounted a mac os hps cdrom
on a redhat 8 system using the standard mount command?
The mount documentation indicates that the mac cd fileystem
is supported in the kernel, but I get a 'this filesystem type
is not supported by the kernel' message when I try the
mount command.

Hi,
I've recently installed linux 8.0 on my machine and
there is dual boot between linux and windows. I have a 3com 3C905C-TX ethernet
card in my machine. If i boot up with linux, i can connect to the Internet but
browsing websites is incredibly slow. The weird thing is that if I use ping, I
files to
the same folder results in some files being overwritten.

I am using
Linux RedHat 5.2 and I connect remotely to another machine using UUCP. The
system work fine for most of the time. However if the system fails to connect to
the remote machine for any reason I get an error message "retry time out not
reached" I cant see where I can alter the retry
I believe if you edit /etc/sysconfig/network it will solve your problem
during botup setting hostname is read from this file. Well at least it
work for me.

I have seen this problem if your system date and time is incorrect.
Verify your date and time are correct. I believe the error is due to the
secure certificate on RedHat's site expires sometime in August 2002 and
if your date is wron it thinks the certificate has expired.

Yes you can reinstall XP from the Dell XP-reinstall media on
an altered (at least from what came partitioned from Dell
originally). There does need to be a Fat32 or NTFS partition
available (and an s2d one as well if you're going to use that
feature).

/etc/hosts makes it "work" because your machine checks that file before

a configuration program for it. I have not used this functionality,

After just posting I immediately began to wonder if it would also
work to just:
ln -s 8139too.o rtl8139.o
in your /lib/modules/2.4.0/net directory and then leave
your eth0 defined to rtl8139 as it is for the 2.2 kernel.

I had the same problem. It appears that it got renamed from rtl8139 to 8139too
(or something like that).

I have an AMD K6-2/300 system I've built which throws a kernel oops when
trying to boot during installation for RH 7.0. I don't suppose that is
related to the problem you're discussing?

Some of my programs use regcomp/regexec on RH7 and I've not seen a
problem. Memory problems can be most insidious .. you might want to
compile against something like efence or (if you've the luxury of a platform
supporting it), Purify.
