I figured out how to solve this problem last September with Exceed 6.2. >From my notes:
Exceed's connecting protocol is REXEC by default. This protocol may not be supported by most Linux distributions by default. It is, however, supported in the later versions of RedHat Linux. You can do one of two things: 1) On the your RedHat Linux box 7.0 or later: chkconfig rexec on 2) For earlier versions of RedHat Linux: Change Exceed's default start method to be telnet. From the Exceed folder on the start menu on desktop, choose: 1) Xstart 2) In the settings box, choose "Other..." 3) Click on the "Wizard" tab (the right most tab). 4) From the "start method" drop down box, choose "Telnet (TCP/IP)". 5) Click OK. 6) Close the Xstart application. I searched through groups.google.com and called Hummingbird support to configure out these answers. Please note, that this works OK, but none of the key bindings for backspace or delete work correctly. I still need to do some more tweaking. Any suggestions welcome. BTW, one more thing you might want to change: /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.comf [xdmcp] Enable=1 Bruce Davis UNIX Systems Administrator Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products Burlington, MA > Subject: RH 7.2: No access with Exceed 6.0... > Date: Mon, 4 Mar 2002 17:37:11 +0100 > From: "Walther, Christoph" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Hello all, > > I'm using RH 7.2 with KDE. > I've a problem to access via Exceed 6.0 (Windows 95) to X on the RH 7.2-Box. > > I have made following configuration: > > /etc/inittab: x:5: > respawn:/etc/X11/predfm -nodaemon > > /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess: > * CHOOSER BROADCAST > %hostlist 164.27.222.243 > > /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config: > !DisplayManager.requestPort: 0 > > /etc/hosts.allow: > All: All > > After setting up this, and taken the IP-adress of my server > in the xdmcp.txt - file, my RH-server doesn't appear in the > XDMCP Display Manager Chooser-Window. > > Does anyone have an idea or experience, what seem wrong here ?? > > With another RH 7.0-Box, using Gnome, I didn't have these problems !! > > Thanks, > > Christoph Walther _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
