Hi ,
Recently i loaded redhat 7.2. The m/c has 3
NIC cards but while installing OS, I configured one NIC with required IP
parameters and its started working fine for 2-3 mins, after that suddenly it is
stopped working without any errors. If I restart the service
/etc/init.

In NIS server u have to define automount maps. For example u have all
user home directories on X m/c.
Share that path by editing /etc/exports
Then edit the maps at NIS server like /etc/auto.direct, /etc/auto_home &
/etc/auto.master
That's it while booting client it will mount user home directory

If it
is happening while logging in as a normal user, then its problem with user
authentication. And try to login as a root, if it will work normally then it
must be a problem with user authentication means not your client m/c is not
binding with NIS ...

This
you can achieve by NIS or NIS+, but first you need to study about your all
requirements and implement one of the methods either NIS or

Hi folks,
I have small doubt about using multiple NIC
cards with linux redhat 7.2. I have server with 3 NIC cards and want to
configure all NIC cards for same LAN.
for example NIC 1 -->
192.168.3.16
NIC 2 --> 192.168.3.17
NIC 3 --> 19
sysconfig/network-scripts and rename ifcfg-eth0 to
ifcfg-eth1
- edit ifcfg-eth1 and change the device from eth0 to eth1 and
change any parameter you need
reboot
Do all this from the console, then after reboot ping first your nic and
then ping any host in your network
Good luck

If you try to load redhat 7.2 with normal installation, I hope it will
work but u have to make some small changes at /etc/X11/XF86config-4.
Edit this file & make changes like
Section "Device"
Identifier "My Video Card"
Driver "vesa"
BoardName "Unknown"
Hope it will work..
Embedix Platform and i can't use
/proc file system over there. So what happens, if i try to ping somebody, i gets the
message :-
ip_conntrack: maximum limit of 1016 entries exceeded.
Further information about the setup, you can see from the following conversation.
