Hi,
It doesn't seem to run at all. What's really strange is that when I try
to start smb from the command line, I see:
[root@ripley init.d]# ./smb start
Starting SMB services: [ OK ]
Starting NMB services: [ OK ]

Hi,
I had been running Samba 2.2.1a on a Red Hat 7.2 machine fine for
several weeks. Then I had to reboot the machine today, and Samba won't
come back up. The boot-up messages say that SMB has started OK. But if
I check SWAT or '/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb status', it says that Samba is not
running.
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm having problems restarting Samba on a Red Hat 7.2 machine. When I
try to run smbclient, I get this error:
[root@ripley init.d]# smbclient -L localhost
added interface ip=192.168.230.201 bcast=192.168.230.255

Hi,
I'm seeing a whole bunch of error messages like this in my
/var/log/messages:
Jan 20 22:18:32 ripley kernel: floppy0: disk absent or changed during
operation
Jan 20 22:18:32 ripley kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00

What does this mean? Could this be related to w
Are your machines overheating? I once had a dual PII-300 machine which
kept crashing apps with Red Hat 5.2. The fix was to underclock the
chips. Try underclocking your chips at a different frequency front side
bus than what you're currently using. It should just be a matter of
setting some jum
Great!
I didn't know about sync. What I did to fix the problem was have
everyone log off and kill any processes accessing their home
directories. Then I logged in as root and unmounted and remounted the
partition. I'll try sync'ing next time.

OK,
Good to know.

t how good Quake on Linux looked with the G400. Have you tried a
different monitor? That's the only thing I can think of at this point.
I'm all tapped out of ideas. Good luck,
Hidong

Did you install Red Hat 7.2 fresh on this machine? If so, XFree86 4 was
installed, and the configuration file you're using is
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4. You really don't need 32 bpp color depth. 24
bpp will give you 16 million colors which should be fine for most
applications. The only thing I see
Have you tried starting it with SWAT? Follow these directions
http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba-binaries/2001-May/000216.html.
Then point your browser to http://localhost:901. (Make sure httpd is
running first.) The SWAT page should come up. You can start Samba from
the Status page of SW
