Hi all,
I've recently download the latest kernel (2.4.3) and after compile,
"make modules", and "make modules_install" I can't load modules because
the modules.dep file has 0 bytes lenght.
In order to use the new kernel I did:
- make mrproper;make xconfig;make dep;make clean;make bzImage;make

First, thanks to Chad W. Skinner for suggestions on how to make the
DIR_COLORS definition mechanism work on a selectable per-user basis in
advance for all xterms that the user may create. The trick is to put the
command
eval `dircolors --sh $HOME/.dircolors`
in $HOME/.bashrc, where the local .d

Charles,
Thank's for your info. I have already re-installed the
RH6.2, and it was successful.
I have selected a Gnome Workstation type install, and
the installation program has formatted only the
existing "Linux Partitions", and choose the software
packages to load.
It's, up and running now, Even
try ftp.redhat.com/redhat/linux/rawhide

Hi,
I'm having problems installing Real Player 8 on a Red Hat 6.2 machine. The
Netscape plugin isn't getting installed. I downloaded the .bin file from the
Real site. The installation core dumped right at the end. The executable got
installed, and I can run Real Player from a few sites. But
go to ftp.redhat.com and download the python updated rpm. while you're
there just get the new up2date as well.

I just tried to upgrade my up2date just release by RH and rpm said I needed
python-xmlrpc >=1.4. My RH7.0 came with 1.2.x and that is also the highest
version I can find using rpmfind.
Anyone else having this problem?

Linux can easily do this - just not RH. Take jailbait for example
(jailbait.sourceforge.net) that fits on a 16MB flash disk, including X,
netscape, and a graphical mail client. This leaves 112MB for data
collection:)

Hello everyone,
This is kind of a weird question, but I need to know if and how this can be
done. I have a client that currently uses the webserver (on apache that is
the .htaccess files) to autheticate the users. Well, the users are not
wanting to have the popup box that prompts them for th
Hi,
The in-built driver in RH7.0 is not working with my network card as I'm
using a Dlink 538TX Rev D. I've did quite a lot of testing on this as I'm
using mainly Dlink 538TX card. DLink Rev A to C works fine in RH6.0 and
RH7.0 inbuilt driver but not on 538TX Rev D.
I tried recompile the driver
Well, I tried your suggestion and used lsof. To my very great surprise I
found that portmap is the culprit. More specifically, rpc.statd and
rpc.mountd. According to lsof they are listening on ports 1025 and 1024.
I run nfs and portmap for my internal lan and use a ipchains firewall to

I have posted this to the install and developer list before, but the
