Hi Guys,

I have posted this to the install and developer list before, but the
problem was not solved.

The output of 'fdisk /dev/hda' is given below (Seagate HDD, 10GB)

steve@STV:~# fdisk -l /dev/hda

Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1245 cylinders Units = cylinders
of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 128 1028128+ b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hda2 129 1245 8972302+ f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda5 129 511 3076416 b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hda6 879 886 64228+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda7 887 1245 2883636 83 Linux
/dev/hda8 512 878 2947896 b Win95 FAT32

I'm not able to mount /dev/hda8, while I can mount both hda1 and
hda5. Also, hda8 should be about 3GB in size (hda5, with approx the same
number of block counts, is 3GB) But, it shows its size as only 1.85 GB,
both in Linux and in Windows.

I was told to format it in windows, and I did a full format. At the
end of the format, windoze said that an invalid exception (0e) had
occurred and I had to reboot. By booting with a floppy, I was able to
perform a full format, but the size still remained to be 1.85GB. I tried
deleting the partition and then creating it again, and after doing that,
I wasn't able to mount it in Linux.

Windows still shows it as a 1.85GB drive. Can anyone suggest
something to recover my 1GB?

Regards,
Steve Fernandez.
