 Did you recreate the partition with Windos or with Linux? Did you create all 
the logical partitions with the same OS? I am not sure, but it could be that 
Linux and Windos create logical partitions in a different manner.
 Have a look at the order: /dev/hda8 physically lies in between /dev/hda5 and 
/dev/hda6. This added to the fact that maybe be you used the different OS's 
fdisks interchangebly might have caused this problem.
 The only solution I see is you recreate all logical partitions (maybe (not) 
except /dev/hda5) and get them in the proper order (ie cylinder no of 
/dev/hda8 comes after /dev/hda7). I am sorry, but I think somehow the logical 
structure of the extended partition got messed up, and this is your only 
solution.
