I'm running RH6.2, and RPM 3.0.5. I'm trying to upgrade the RPM
database to RPM 4 so that I can handle the new RH7 RPMs. Supposedly an
upgrade to RPM 4 is possible without upgrading the entire distro to RH7.
I downloaded the RPMs for RPM 4: rpm-4.0-4.i386.rpm, and the devel rpm.

Michael,
I run a caching DNS and it's of course authoritative for my internal

up. I have to use init3 to do anything.
Here is one of the errors I see just before it tries to come up:

Either the netmask, IP or the gateway is wrong. The three don't match.
In any case, your network administrator will probably be pissed if you put
a workstation on a network with the wrong IP, even if you got the netmask
and the gateway right. You could very well be breaking security policies.

The IP for the W2K machine is 205.150.20.254. And I checked it out myself it
has the same gateway and netmask...
That is why I am stumped!

Hi Gurus!
I have a question! I have a redhat system. When I setup the basic host
information ie: IP address, Netmask and Gateway. Then I restart the system.
If I try to ping the gateway, I get an error that says "destination host
unreachable."
IP Address: 205.150.20.194
Netmask: 255.255.255.192

You might be thinking of the filesystem IBM uses in AIX, the technology of
which they contributed to the open source community. Take a look at:
