Hello, I have a RH 6.1 server running Apache and I'm having a problem with the IP addresses that are on my machine. For some reason every time I restart my server a few IP address aren't being resetup on the server and I have to actually go and run ./ifup for them. Is there anyway I can fix thi

Phil, On WD web site they have a util that is called diag. It will do a test on the drive, it has to be run from DOS/ Windows. What you can do is boot to a WIN 9X disk then run the util. I have not used it in a long time, I did tech support for them. At one point this was a DOS only util.

That means you don't have httpd listed as process to start on boot. One can start httpd with a command line like this: /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start or /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd stop to stop the httpd server. If you with the httpd server to start on bootup then check it in the ntsysv menu. Eddie

I finally figured out the problem: VNC was already using :1 and :2 , which is why I thought it was failing :-) Also note that I accidently mis-typed and left the space out of "-- :1" in my first post - sorry. Never knew that VNC actually used X in that matter...shoulda known :)

The old Slackware 3.3 version says you can do a minimal install in 20 meg. However I am sure that will not allow for the C++ compilier. Maybe you could use a parrellel zip drive if you don't need to print. You can down load the floppies to do the install from ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware
