Did you add them thru the gui or adduser?
You might want to issue the command:
passwd username
at the command-line and change the password there for
one of your new users. Then try to log in as them.

A couple of quick questions for you:
Does anyone know where the bitmap files for the cursors in
are located?
So far I've only managed to change the root window cursor with
xsetroot.
How do I change the busy cursor (the little black watch) for all
programs? I am at my wits end!

Whenever the system does a disk check at boot, it reports:
"inode 2250 has zero dtine -FIXED"
(I'm not sure that it's always 2250). It doesn't seem to be causing any
problems but does anyone know what it means or why it keeps happening?

why not do "rpm -i filename.rpm"? i find it to be much
reliable. the only time i ever use glint is for uninstalling
packages w/c "rpm -e" often fails at, for some reason.
