For anyone in this situation I found it reasonably easy to install the
mainline 6.1 series kernel which is still supported and works with
nvidia drivers. It's a little annoying to automate updates and to remove
the standard kernels so that grub automatically boots into the older
mainline driver, bu
esn't change matters.

After building the kernel with the patch to revert
83bcf3e52e9cfc727df33f1055ef0618c91719d0, I can confirm that my speaker

Sorry, this answer has confused me even more... heres an example of what
we're currently using, perhaps you can speak to that,,, the user in this
case has no special rights, certainly not cap_sys_admin.
