Further information: I looked into uvc_driver.c and in the kernel
6.11.0.9 version, there is a usb_device_id for 0408-4035 but not
0408-4033, so I added it, and rebuilt with:
make -j4 -C /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build M=$(pwd) modules
The uvcvideo kernel module in this version also appears to be
yes! I got the same issue!

The real issue here seems to be the lack of Autofit configuration on a
per-VM basis. I've added back some of the modes and added some
additional ones which users will likely have [1]. As for the resolutions
that exceed the monitor resolution the only thing that limits the size
of a virtual display

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 24.10, and this issue seems to be fixed. It's
unfortunate that the bug affects the LTS release, but whatever the
underlying cause was, it seems to be solved going forwards.
