I don't need a backport. This seems resolved in 15.04 and there is a workaround
in earlier versions, so I am satisfied with this.

I tried all the workarounds listed an here are my results:
Booting with defaults:
- Brightness hotkeys does not work.
- Brightness slider in Power Management works.

You can boot to the previous kernel as a workaround.
As root, edit: /etc/default/grub
You should have this line in there:

Thanks for the hint. I did that today and after a few minutes of video
streaming (www.tagesschau.de) "top" showed me the now well-known
"kidle_inject" processes but the box held out for a bit over ten
minutes, which is more but not significantly more than before. Then it

I have now updated the BIOS to the latest version 205.
Ubuntu no longer boots. It gets stuck on the ubuntu boot screen. With
the ubuntu logo and the small dots below it.
I am still able to boot Mint and the problem is not fixed in Mint.

Sorry for late reply. After disabling NV card in BIOS. Ubutnu is able to boot.
My current solution is to nomodeset while booting on live USB. After
installing, boot into recovery mode, than blacklist nouveau.(and install Nvidia
offical driver)

By installing kernels using .deb packages I have learned that the issue
is resolved between kernel 3.13.2 and 3.13.3. I will now try to reverse
bisect the commits in between these kernel version (which I have never
done before).
As a side note, I could not test the issue in kernel 3.13.1; I got

No one has responded. I'd like to work on this problem, but I haven'
kernel 4.0.0 #1 SMP on a Gigabyte BXi7H-550. Behaviour is intermittent:
sometimes it connects fine, sometimes it won't connect but the networks
can be seen, sometimes the card is not visible to iwconfig.

you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top
line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for
testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following

The issue still exists in some form.
Usually if one or more USB error messages appear, and you wait, they
disappear now, and the boot proceeds ok.
Sometimes however, like if you press a keyboard button before they
disappear, the issue remains.

I have the same problem in Win 8, with my Zenbook UX21E . Are you sure
unplug and plug the Battery will solve the problem? No need to updating
risky Bios?
