ExifTool 12.76 is quite old. In version 13.11 a bug was fixed for writing Exif
metadata.
Test our AppImage to make sure it works, it contains a current ExifTool

Your configuration looks like the digiKam Snap package from Ubuntu. Snap uses a
sandbox and many problems are known with it, it is unsuitable for use with
digiKam. Use our AppImage as an alternative.
