I haven't seen this in a good while either, so I would assume that the bug has
been fixed. The machine on which I had it is now retired, however, so I cannot
do a direct confirmation test.

Apparently it was a pulse audio issue, when i was in a Microsoft Teams call,
(uses skype to make calls)

I can start kate just fine.
When I do so on windows, "kate --block" should prevent kate from going into the
