If I understand correctly, if you look in /path/to/imap/user/username then you don't even see the files named 1. 2. 3. ,etc. If that is the case check the following, otherwise ignore. What MTA are you using? Try to run, as cyrus, the deliver script manually, and see if it can find the mailbox,
