(recent/latest nightlies)? I'm using the above combination and
junkbuster doesn't seem to work very well anymore. I can't see how it
could be possible, but I was wondering if maybe junkbuster didn't work

Everytime I run dselect and do Install it installs a kernel image and I
have to reinstall my custom image. I try making my custom image 5.5 and
it still does it. I tried to find the kernel image 2.2.17 in dselect
and uninstalling it but it doesn't have have it marked installed.

I have two IBM 75GXP 15.3G harddrives. The IBM website states that this
particular drive can sustain data transfer rates of 37MB/sec. I am
attempting to use hdparm to check my harddrive performance. I get the
following values:
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 21.64 seconds = 2.96

OK, I installed helix Gnome from potato CDs. Now I can login to Gnome
as root only. (the Help - which I've read - mention "to add other user",
but I didn't find how...).

I had to stop using junkbuster a while ago because Mozilla really
didn't like using it. Something about http 1.0 and 1.1, but for a
long time Mozilla just plain didn't work with proxies. I ended up
doing some work arounds to keep the ads from getting too annoying.

Your problem seems to be inability to get access to
your computer since "xdm" is taking you directly
into "X", from where the system blanks out.
Try Ctrl-Alt-F10. Works with some keyboards.In case
you manage to come out to console, immediately do
the following as root:
#update-rc.d -f xdm re

free/open source linux distribution. I also have been intrigued after
reading this list about the package manager used in Debian. I think some
