dpkg -S searches the database for the package owning the file you specify, the file can be either a simple name or an absolute path. the reason /initrd is unknown (no matter how you search for it you will not find /initrd in any package) is because it only exists in the base2_2.tgz tarball. no package creates nor maintaines it. its part of the base system itself. -- Ethan Benson http://www.alaska.net/~erbenson/
