Most PnP bioses have an option that says something like "PnP Aware OS".
If you set this to 'no', the bio

Next time I see you on IRC I'll have to set you straight. :-) Yes, debhelper
packages, can be installed with dpkg, the bin
I have a question about installing 2.0. I have installed it succesfully at
home and on a computer here at work. I am now trying to install it on a
gateway P5-60 that is all SCSI. Dos cannot see the CD-ROM drive and I get
wierd results when I try to boot the CD. I have a Buslogic BT-958 SCCI

Thanks for the help Jens.
I had indeed modified the X server to use xkb in order to get backspace
working properly. I edited the /usr/lib/X11/xkb/keymap/xfree86 to change
xkb_symbols from pc105 to pc101. As you pointed out pc105 was mapping my
alt keys to alt and the non-existent windows keys to m
I've got Debian 1.3.1/2.0.29 on my Toshiba Tecra 520 CDT laptop, and can't
seem to find the modem. Win95 finds it fine at COM2, and minicom in Linux
USED to find it at /dev/ttyS1, but now it can't. I have added lots of
software since then, so might have screwed something up, but can't figure

Correct except you should be able to find the packages you need in
bo-updates to install and use debh
In looking at the thread, I didn't see anyone mentioning that sound
should be compiled as a module, so isapnp can configure the card
before the sound driver tries to talk to the card. (I have been
known to miss seeing things before )

Hi,
I'm trying to use a package for drawing timing diagrams I downloaded from
CTAN. I'm pretty new to TeX and haven't figured out all the programs yet.
Specifically I don't where to place all the files in the package. I put them
in a local directory and which was in my $TEXINPUTS environment varia
Well, in my opinion the X server install should detect that you've changed
these files
and not overwrite them. I might also be so bold as to suggest that the package
maintainer should add a keymap which is "normal" like we like it (does not
change the
tried and true meaning of the ALT key) and ma
I'm unable to build a kernel .deb package with the
2.0.34-4 kernel source and other required/suggested packages as
documented in /usr/doc/kernel-package/README. Doing
make-kpkg --revision=custom.1.0 kernel_image
compiled everything, but, at the linker phase...

I was under the impression that the use of CNAME was not smiled on. Is
this the case? If so, what is the preferred way to handle CNAMEs?
