I am installing slink from cd's. I so far have installed the base
system and have PPP working. I need to get X setup, but the 3.3.2
version on the CD's does not have support for my Matrox G200 AGP card,
I know 3.3.4 does (maybe 3.3.3 too). How can I get this from the

I am currently running potato and the xfree86-3.3.3 package from netgod. I
download the XFCom_SVGA server with vmware.
I installed and ran it fine for a day or two. Then I had to reboot and X
would not start. It says that the ps/2 protocal is not supported with this
server. Strange it ran for two
Hi,
add the following line to /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ftp.netgod.net/ x/
this will source the slink versions of XF86 3.3.3.1
and the SVGA server is the one you need (I'm using a TNT card)

OK. Some problems.
I have installed a "dialup" slink and it works well. But since I have
a tnt graphics card (ASUS V3400) I need xfree86 3.3.3.x ?
So how should I proceed.
The 5 cd slink dist. has this 5th cd and it states it has
kde + new kernel + xfree 3.3.3. problem is I can't fin
Well, I can cross this off my list of "Things that don't work."
Although, with potato(e?) I had to change the 7101 to 7100.
Thanks for posting this, Pat.

Hi
Well I figured this out eventually. Just in case anyone else is having
problems with this here is how it works.
xfs will start automatically. You should remove all references to the
actual fontapths in XF86Config and replace them with this
FontPath "unix/:7100"
The actual fontpaths are s
. Does this version of XFS support truetype fonts like the one in
RedHat 6.0 or do I still need to use XFSTT and again if so can
someone send me the relevent bit of XF86Config that calls XFSTT.
Thanks

PS If anyone is using KDE 1.1.1 on an AST M series laptop do the
upgrade to XFree86
I'm thinking of wiping my current RH dist in favor of slink. However, I
noticed that slink comes with XFree86 3.3.2, and I need the SVGA server
from 3.3.3 for my Matrox G200 card. I know that debs exist for 3.3.3,
but I was wondering if I can expect to just drop them onto the slink
release withou

Probally with the potato release.
The X maintainer is smart enough to get the slink versions bugfree
before proceding to the potato versions of the packa
Anyone have any idea when XFree86 3.3.3 will
be included in the debian release?

Just wondering if XFree86 3.3.3 is being considered for the next release
(2.2) or not... I would really like to have XF86 3.3.3 since it contains an
X-server for the Riva TNT chipset.

Hey there everybody,
Is the package XBASE 3.3.2.3A-8.1 already an implementation of XFree86 3.3.3?
If not, when do you think that xbase_3.3.3 will be released?
Thank you,

To change my main PC at work from RedHat 5.1 ro Debian 2.0 I need to be able to
run XFree86 3.3.3 as I have a Matrox G200 graphics card (currently I am running
the SUSE special xserver for this card). Are there and debs available for 3.3.3
