Probably any on-board Intel chip card would do, if you really only need
text. Though if you wont some thing a little bit better, the smalles
nvidia available is you choice, drivers work really great in them.

Did you search the ATI web site for a driver? Maybe with a driver of
them will work better than the built-in driver from xfree. For the
refresh rate, I normally solve that issue by editing the XF86Config-4
file by myself, you have to put the refresh rates that matches your
monitor.

general hella-crappiness of ati drivers (and no, I'm not just
referencing the thread that was featured on hardocp a while ago), I
would not suggest an ati card to any

I believe the ATI xpert 2000 uses the rage 128 graphics engine, so the
driver you want is r128. It should work nicely for you.

depending on the card it can be very normal. both my desktop
at home and my laptop require special configurat
No matter what I do this thing refuses to cooperate. The installation goes fine
until the x setup. Since it can't detect the video card and manually
configuring doesn't seem to work, I let it go with the VGA16 X default but then
when it goes to configure i see the nice graphically display. The o

As with any software sometimes it will not detect all
hardware. I know on my Laptop I have the S3 Savage
and during initial installation this card was not
detected, I had to manually configure it. During that
process you will get to a data base of video cards and

It's pretty normal, considering potato has XFree86 3.3.6 (latest is
4.1.x).
