I recomment you do a clean re-install of debian 3.0 (yes 3.0, not 2.0)
and try and keep that up to date on security patches.

I have been having the same problem... the system often hangs right before
this process (not showing it), often so long that i get impatient and just

You probably want to use the multiple cd option. Your CD-Rom is most likely
/dev/cdrom or /dev/hdb for ATAPI or /dev/scd0 for SCSI. I would recommend the
KDE desktop manager, as you will probably find it very familiar and there is

Make sure you have lp module unloaded. Use lsmod to list them.
To remove rmmod. Also, make sure the kernel has lp services as
a module. If lp shows up in lsmod then your ok as far as the kernel
is concerned. Just remove lp with rmmod.
Then the new zip drive use a new driver! It is imm.o, not ppa
The other thing you can do if you arn't ready for 2.2.x yet is to unload
the lp module.

the rawrite utility (rawrite writes information to a disk without regard
to the format - hence overwriting the file system info that reduces a

The Tecra files are for the Toshiba Tecra series of laptops. I'm not really
sure what is the difference between them and thee standard boot disks.
You don't need to do a clean install. I just downloaded the hamm base
packages and used dpkg to upgrade. Look at
