Yep. Go ahead and do fresh install. Tecra disks are mainly for laptops. As for ppp.chatscript and friends, old scripts will be of big help, but the localtion of scripts themselves is changed, they are now in /etc/ppp/peers/provider and /etc/chatscripts/provider Good luck.
