Has anyone seen this before? I am about at the end of my rope here.

I am trying to write a check script so that I may assure that the proper
amount of RAM has been initialized in lilo.conf. Is there a way that one can
read installed memory values from the motherboard BIOS so that I can compare
them to the initialized values?

I am using 'memtest 33554432 5' for 128MB, 'memtest 67108864 5' for 256, and
'memtest 100663296 5' for 384. Is this right?

It seems as though we only have these problems when we have more than one
module installed.

with which these strange problems
occur in servers with multiple DIMM's is suspect.
Other times there will be some sort of core dump and a kernel panic. Often
times the kernel panic does not freeze the box up, but it will not really do
anything else until it is rebooted.

I know that Hummingbird Software makes a package that includes a telnetd
that runs on Win95. I have used it and had much success, until I found that
I didn't really need it. Ataman software makes a RSHD for Win95, but no
telnetd.

still have no answers. Microsoft is apparently now in the business of making
"Windows Only" hardware. Still it works fine using gpm in text mode.

My officemate and I had similar problems when we switched to Outlook. I do
not know what version our IMAP server is running, but the problem seemed to
go away once we bumped the timeout up to 3 to 4 minutes.

There is a shareware program called WinCron that is basically a port of
the UNIX cron command. You can get it at one of the NoNags sites under the
PowerToys section. A list of sites is at www.nonags.com. Or you can get it
here http://pw1.netcom.com/~wc/WINCRON.ZIP.

You might want to look into IP Masquerading. Go look at this page
http://www.wiznet.ca/~ambrose/
They have lots of info about masquerading those packets through a
Linux box.

JAZ drive many, many times. All of the SCSI cards we use
are auto terminating, but I have yet to find a way to do this under
Linux.
I refuse to believe that there is something that a Microslash product
can do that Linux can't.

Well then, didn't really think to look at the man page for lilo.conf.
Thanks for the assist.

Does anyone out there know of a way to prevent a Debian box from being
able to boot into single user mode? We have removed any sort of delay=
settings from the lilo.conf, and this makes it extremely difficult to
get into that mode, but does not prevent it.
Any help?

Hardware
We use Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 video cards that cost us about $75 (I
think) and support up to 1152x??? in 16bpp. They support 1280x1024 under
Win95, so there is probably a way to make Linux go that high also.

s, I would
like to know if there is any definitive source of information on
building installation disks. The new system that loads base off of a
CD is great, but with the modified drivers and kernel, I need to know
more about these disks.
