In regard to the HP Nx 8420 itself, it is 3 months old, ACPI works on
both the 2.6.18 and 2.6.20 kernels in the 686 and AMD64 versions.

for anyone interested my problems were:
Missing boot.ini - restored from floppy.
Incorrect partition for W2K - whilst Win98 and Linux see the partition
as 10, W2K sees it as 8. Once I changed that in the restored boot.ini, I
was able to boot all 3 OS. eventually worked that out using MAP fr
n't much care if I lose W98. I have stuff on p5,6,7 I'd like to keep
but it's 10 and 4 which I would most like to keep.
