In some cases you can uninstall it by "make uinstall'
or 'make uninstall' from inside the source directory
created after untarring the tarball.

There is no way to un-instal it. tar.gz packages give
you a flexible way to install as per your requirement
than prepackaged rpms or debs. But rpm or deb package
management eases upgrades, adding , removing packages

I am now getting all other packages separately thru

If I understand correctly
what you are saying:-
Maybe if the CDROM drive is not connected
properly. Shut down the computer; remove power connection; open the lid and
then remove the connections going to CDROM(one is power and another is called
data-cable) and then connect them again.

Please do let me know. As a sys admin, I generally
use lot of tools utilities for remote admin etc. All my collegues use XP/2000.
I just now started with Debian and I am proud.
Make me prouder please ;-)

The C and D you are referring to are Drive names given by windows OS to
HDDs. If you format C; then windows will be wiped out and while
installing Linux on it, you will be given an option to install
Boot-loader(like grub or lilo) by which at next boot u can select which
linux to boot from 1HDD's or
tions except 1024x768.
My monitor is Dell 773S. I also tried with Samsung Syncmaster 793s.

How do I get 800x600 without even mentioning it in my X file?
