Hoe do I make it so gnome does not blank out my screen after 3 minutes? It
is getting really annoying when i am reading something. I've looked online,
but been unable to find anything.
Turns out IRQ 0 meant that the card wasn't actually getting an IRQ at all
(thanks to the ever fabulous rcw :). I set the BIOS to a non-PNP OS and
all is well. :)

load a plug-in, my Zip started spinning non-stop. I did a ps alx to see

I have Frozen installed and compiled the floppy driver as a module
(fyi-this needs to be done on the 560 for some reason). I can 'insmod
floppy' just fine from a prompt, but when I added a 'floppy' line to

OK, I figured out that the cause of my 'problem' is the Xaw3dg package
required by gv. I've read all the documentation regarding scrollbars and
even tried downloading the sources from ftp.x.org, but the directions
given in /usr/doc/Xaw3dg/scrollbars didn't work for me. It said

It overwrote my /etc/ppp.chatscript file and deleted my
/etc/ppp.options_out file. I reinstated them, and that didn't help.

I bought a ASUS P55T2P4 recently and it came with Award BIOS v4.51, which
does allow booting off of SCSI devices (although I only have ide). You
might try going to Award's site and getting an upgrade.

...is it ok to to a --force-conflicts, or should I do a dpkg -r libgdbm1
or what?

one release behind in libc5 (i have -6 and i guess there's a
-7) so i'll get that and go from there.

I've made myself a member of audio in /etc/group. Also, do you have nas
installed? If so, it will automatically start an 'au' process at

Thanks for your reply. I'm currently working on the later version of GIMP
right now (i've found that it's quite involved. thankfully 'Che-Fox' is
gracious enough to help me with that) but I will try the lesstif for xtar.
