Do you use your WinModem with Linux, or did you download
under Windows/Wine? I am hoping to install Linux on a friend's
laptop, which has a WinModem, and I haven't found any information
on Linux support for WinModems.

I'll bet it has something to do with your reverse-lookup setup.
nslookup -d2 yahoo.com
to get some exhaustive debug information.

Sorry, I don't have wdm installed and I couldn't find an on-line
man page for it, so I can't give you the name of the wdm profile.

Does it give you the option to open the file in the browser?
That's what you want to do. Otherwise, save it as a file
and then choose "File | Open Page | Choose File...".

I think this would be the same as setting up a diskless Linux
box. See the Diskless Linux Mini Howto:

. The password field is the second field on this

I suggest:
cat filename | tr '[:lower:][:punct:]' '[:upper:][a*]' | sed 's/a//g' >

Since the lower-to-upper translation has been performed, 'a' (or any other

Do I need to pass gs some additional switches to get the PCL output
right? Is the Postscript input somehow flawed? I have spent a couple
of days on this now, and am at my wit's end.
Your help is appreciated.

P.S. Here's some pertinent packa
ode 511). The files pwd.db (see pwd_mkdb(8))
and group(5) must be present [...]
pwd_mkdb is not installed on my machine. Any idea which package contains it?
Is there another common utility for creating the .db file that ftpd wants?
Thank you.

Is there a quick and painless way to translate the output from
man into plain text?
e.g:
$ man man | magic-filter
$ magic-bin /usr/man/man8/man.8
$ man --magic-switch man
Thank you.

ead?
3. Has anybody implemented a similar update scheme that works well
for them? Should I just subscribe to debian-changes and do manual
updates when appropriate?
I apologize for my verbose posting (brevity is not one of my strong
points :). Thank you for any help you can provide.
