I have a machine which I _absolutely_ need to have working Monday. I need
to have it have to Progeny update + 2.4 kernel. I've been fighting with
this all weekend, having started over about a dozen times at this point in
time :-(
Here's where I am at tthe moment. I installed a minimal stable, the

He meant $REALSTARTUP, w/o
Apparently the problem is the quoted $REALSTARTUP variable in the exec
command of /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99xfree86-common_start. I removed the quotes
and it's fine. I guess there were newlines chars in there or something, which
are maintained if you quote a shell variable.

Linux isn't up to 6.0, so this must refer to the distribution.
And Debian isn't up to 6.0, so it

I read a specification for a Networking practice (Linux) ,
mentioning as requirements :
1. boot floppy
2. Installation CDs for Linux 6.0
3. Supplementary disks .
What does 'supplementary disk' really mean ?
What can its contents be ?
How do you make it ?
Is theis the old Unix - root floppy thing

Hello.
I'm currently running Debian testing with kernel 2.2.17. I encountered
this problem, after xlibs, xserver-svga and other X stuff got upgraded.
And the problem is; Blackbox doesn't work anymore. When I type startx,
it just "hangs" to that grey screen and mouse moves with huge delay.
After
I read the man page, and figured it out. I'm just sorry that I first
send you all a mail.

See the threads on this list about GTK fonts being
broken. My problem was that I did an upgrade and got
XFree 4.x fonts while still using XFree 3.x server.
Make sure all parts of X got upgraded and check your
the order of the fonts in your XF86Config. I did a lot
of playing around with them. But no
Hi all,
I'm setting up a server that will eventually be connected directly to
the net - which I've never done before (except my firewall I guess,
which doesn't do anything else).
Currently, though, it's on my masqued internal network.
This has been causing me some grief. For example, apache (apac
