Well, in order to work around the ftp crashing problem, my friend and I
decided to set up NFS. We got it working fine, and transfered a few
files, and then we got around to trying to optimize the rsize and wsize
mount parameters. In doing this, I went into the NFS mounted directory
and did "time

dialog is based on ncurses while whiptail is based on newt and slang.
whiptail is (almost) completely compatible and offers a few extensions.

What's the difference between these two programs? The man page for whiptail
is only a minor rewrite of the dialog man pageq, but I didn't find where it

I had to install dhcpcd on my bare Hamm system to access the Ethernet
here, and it worked perfectly, so I don't think it is broken. You might
try installing the netbase package, and anything else that it has
dependancies on.

I have fianlly managed to get a proper chatscript to dial into my ISP (I
think). Now I find that when pppd comes on it always fails at the LCP
ConfReq phase. Here is a snippet from my ppp.log
