I unstalled Debian version 1.3 from a CD that I burned at work
from the offcial CD..here ar emy problems:
a) lilo doesn't work (minor concern...I have a boot disk that works..and
boots the kernel that I custom built)
b) pppd and named don't

I've been trying to get Debian installed on my IBM Thinkpad 560 for a
couple days now and I'm still having some problems. Initially it wouldn't
boot, except with loadlin, but I looked through the mailing list archives
and used the Tecra boot disks and got it to work.
My problem now is that

disk) and found that after installing xbase and xserver-svga, xdm
wouldn't start. After looking about a bit, I found that
/etc/init.d/xdm was empty and that the start up script was in
/etc/init.d/xdm.dpkg-dist.
Can anyone help me sort
I had problems with my ATI card as well, www.suse.de has a bunch of Xfree86
based Xservers for ATI cards. Might want to look there...

Hitting max mount count doesn't indicate a problem. The boot mechanism

started using. When I was using TWM before I never got this message even if
I clicked on the desktop and exited TWM - I suspect that TWM cleaned up
before dropping out - perhaps ICEWM doesn't
