If you want to see what the current settings are for this, and other disk parameters, use "dumpe2fs /dev/hd__|less" as root, inserting your disk designator. Piping through less is essential, since dumpe2fs dumps 15 - 30 screens of data, depending on the size of the file system. dumpe2fs is also from the e2fsprogs package.
