I don't have neither gstreamer1.0-alsa nor gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio installed
and I can see the list of devices in one of my machines.
Now I have another machine where I can see this issue the difference being
that I'm running pulseaudio there. I
Hello,
I believe 4.8.0-1 phonon-backend-gstreamer did depend on gstreamer1.0-alsa or
gstreamer1.0-audiosink.
I'm not sure if it would be better to add gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio as another
alternative, or to add it as a recommends?
Pity you can't express conditional dependencies "If the user has
Hi,
I'm not sure what you mean by pushing but the scenario I see is the
problem that someone may install
phonon-backend-gstreamer expecting it to work, but since it has no
dependancy on either
gstreamer1.0-alsa or gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio the would not be able to
switch devices with Phonon

Package: phonon-backend-gstreamer
Version: 4:4.8.0-1
Followup-For: Bug #762577
Hi yet again urk,
I got all my versions wrong the final solution was:
phonon-backend-gstreamer 4:4.8.0-1
gstreamer1.0-alsa 1.4.1-1
gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio1.4.1-1
I still do note that there
Package: phonon-backend-gstreamer
Version: 4:4.8.0-1
Followup-For: Bug #762577

Another follow up I noticed gstreamer0.10-alsa was also removed due to being
unused
I imagien this might cause the same issue for device listings for alsa users as

Hi again,
It seems this isn't a bug in the package per say but more seems to be with
dependencies
phonon-backend-gstreamer needs gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio to properly display
pulseaudio
